The Junior Business Development Manager (East Africa) supports Sumsub’s regional growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and building essential sales skills within the East African market. This role focuses on managing smaller client accounts and supporting senior BDMs on larger, strategic deals. Candidates must have prior sales experience and strong familiarity with the SaaS, RegTech, IDV, or FinTech space in East Africa.
Location: Kenya (Remote – must be currently based in Kenya)
What You Will Be Doing:
- Conduct targeted market research to identify and qualify potential clients across East Africa.
- Initiate outbound outreach (email, LinkedIn, calls) to introduce Sumsub’s solutions and set qualified meetings for senior team members.
- Independently manage the full sales cycle for smaller clients—from first contact to contract signature.
- Support senior BDMs in the region by preparing sales materials, assisting with follow-ups, and coordinating client meetings.
- Map key accounts and decision-makers to strengthen regional engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Tech, Legal, Product) to ensure smooth onboarding, demos, and contract delivery.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular updates on pipeline activity.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and regulatory developments in the East African market.
About You:
- 1+ years of sales experience, preferably in SaaS, RegTech, FinTech, or Identity Verification.
- Deep understanding of the East African business landscape, particularly Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
- Read and write Swahili
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English (Swahili or French is a plus).
- Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working remotely in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with strong teamwork skills to support senior BDMs.
- Willingness to travel within the East African region when required.
